How does Mrs. Dahlgren grade homework/assessments in World Studies?
Students will do practice work and then be assessed in these categories as we learn about the content in each of our main units. Assessments are built from Iowa’s standards-based learning targets for the social sciences. The scores for assessments are as follows:
3- Meets the Standard (80%>): The student consistently surpasses the proficient level and demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the standard.
2- Partially Meets the Standard (60-79%): The student regularly meets the standard and demonstrates a working knowledge of essential skills; while there are still some weaknesses, the strengths are dominant.
1- Does Not Yet Meet the Standard(<59%): There is very little understanding and skill demonstrated with greater omissions or errors evident.
I will do my best to help you understand what you know/still need to know, and then to help you become proficient with these learning goals. Students who do not show proficiency on an assessment at first need to keep trying! This means going back to the practice material, re-reading, studying, asking questions, and strengthening your understanding of the material – then retaking the assessment. Retakes are expected in my class!
